A Monte Carlo simulation model for the adequacy evaluation of generating systems

Monte Carlo simulation can be used to provide an attractive alternate approach to direct analytical evaluation in generating system adequacy studies. The simulation approach provides the ability to relax some of the traditional assumptions used in an analytical approach. This paper illustrates the b...

Description
Summary:Monte Carlo simulation can be used to provide an attractive alternate approach to direct analytical evaluation in generating system adequacy studies. The simulation approach provides the ability to relax some of the traditional assumptions used in an analytical approach. This paper illustrates the basic methodology used in a Monte Carlo approach which incorporates unit and system operating characteristics. The concepts presented are illustrated by application to the IEEE Reliability Test System.
