The secondary objective of the study is to understand the evolution of performance management and measurement, the main theories among performance management, and the different performance measurement tools. Objective ofthe Research Work The primary objective of the study is to develop a model that will help organizations in the identification and selection process of their performance measures, and to identify the critical factors that will affect this process. The secondary objective of the study will be to understand the evolution of performance management, to define performance management, to analyze the different theories of performance management and measurement. The different performance measurement frameworks and their role in the identification / selection / development process of performance measures will be identified. Research Methodology This research is exploratory and qualitative in nature and identifies four parts. In the first part, research purpose and methodology will be analyzed. In the second part, secondary data research method will be used to review the literature of performance management and performance measurement. In the third part, empirical research methods (i.e., experts' interview and organizations survey) will be used to investigate and propose the model for the identification and selection process of performance measures. In the fourth part, recommendations and limitations will be developed as a conclusion. Findings A model has been identified to help organizations in the identification and selection process of their performance measures. It focuses on the relationship between the corporation's internal performance, and the performance of its market actions. Practical implications This research provides a clear guidance for organizations in the selection process of their performance measures by elaborating a customized strategic model which focuses on the potential relationship between the corporation's practice in identifying, selecting, developing, using performance measures on one hand, and the corporation's performance in the market on the other hand. The model assists organizations in determining whether the performance measures they have selected will contribute or not to their overall performance at both organizational and market levels.1 bound copy: xxvii, 398 leaves; ill.; 31 cm.
