Presenting with dyspnea, chest pain, and leg swelling, computed tomography pulmonary angiography confirmed the diagnoses, which were successfully managed with anticoagulation and conservative measures, highlighting both the potential for delayed complication presentation and the limitations of current prophylaxis protocols.
