| Summary: |
The research examines the experiential qualities of light and shadows inherent in Qatari heritage architecture and their impact in fostering a profound sense of place and a deeper connection between users and architecture. By analyzing archival photographs from Vincent Aitzegagh’s collection housed in Qatar National Library heritage collection, the study captures recurring experiential themes with focus on spatial, sensory, and emotional experiences evoked by light and shadows. The insights from the research are translated into a design framework aimed at guiding contemporary practice toward cultural regeneration, continuity, and originality that is specific to the community through an experience-driven approach.

Disclaimer: This work was supported by Qatar National Library under the QNL Fellowship Program.
