| Summary: |

This dataset contains functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) signals recorded during motor imagery (MI) tasks of lower limb movements. Data were collected from 22 healthy participants using the NIRSport2 system (NIRx Medical Technologies, Germany) at a sampling frequency of 10.1725 Hz. Each recording session lasted 180 seconds and included motor imagery of ankle dorsiflexion and plantarflexion (left, right, and both) as well as knee flexion and extension (left, right, and both).

The dataset includes:

Raw data: Original
.nirs
files for each participant.

Preprocessed data: Butterworth bandpass-filtered signals (0.01–0.3 Hz), provided in Excel files for each participant.

This dataset can be used to explore neural signatures of lower limb motor imagery, develop brain-computer interface (BCI) algorithms, and investigate cortical hemodynamics associated with motor planning and control.

Citaion Instructions / Notes:

For more details read mentioned articel below and cite this original data paper of this project published in Frontiers in Robotics and AI, when using in studies.
https://doi.org/10.3389/frobt.2025.1695169

The project includes following datasets:

Right Knee fNIRS MI Dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29983768

Left Knee fNIRS MI Dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29983828

Right Ankle fNIRS MI Dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29983615

Left Ankle fNIRS MI Dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29979727

Both Knees fNIRS MI dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29979529

Both Ankle fNIRS MI dataset 10.6084/m9.figshare.29979421

|
