| Summary: | <p>for the dataset used in <a href="https://journals.plos.org/complexsystems//article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pcsy.0000044#pcsy.0000044.g002" target="_blank">Fig 2</a> which amounts to a total of 65107 cases (, <i>grey histogram</i>) of average pattern diversity change <i>d</i> = −0.06 (black dashed vertical line) according to which we can define two sets: (1) 27616 observed pattern diversity decreases ( of all observations) of average <i>d</i>(−) = −0.167 (black-blue dashed vertical line) and 37491 observed pattern diversity increases ( of all observations) of average <i>d</i>( + ) = 0.0145 (black-red vertical line). The negative criterion predicts pattern diversity decreases for 15749 cases ( of all observations, <i>blue histogram</i>) of average (blue dashed vertical line) which translates into a negative predictive value of 0.86. The positive criterion predicts pattern diversity increases for 17024 cases ( of all observations, <i>red histogram</i>) of average (red dashed vertical line) which translates into a positive predictive value of 0.91. Using both and <i>c</i>( + ), we obtain an accuracy of 0.88.</p> |
