Microscopic examination of Gram and polychrome methylene blue-stained cultures from bacterial isolates collected from wildlife blood smears in Kruger National Park, South Africa, identified <i>Bacillus anthracis</i> based on morphology.
<p>Images show square-ended bacilli: (A) Isolate AX2015-1270, (B) AX2015-1277A, (C) AX2015-1152, and (D) AX2015-1136. Encapsulation is visible in (E) AX2015-1270, (F) AX2015-1277A, and (G) AX2015-1152, except in (H) AX2015-1136, which lacked a capsule.</p>
