This study aims to identify the main factors influencing delistings, focusing on both firm-level and country-level determinants, with a focus on voluntarily delisted firms. Firm-specific variables include firm size, return on equity, capital expenditures, and leverage, while governance factors cover governance score, independent directors, shareholder rights, and chief executive officer duality. Country-level factors include rule of law, regulatory quality, political stability, government effectiveness, corruption control, and market activity. The analysis covers emerging-market firms from 2007 to 2025, totaling 19,773 companies. Using panel logit regression models, the study finds that determinants of voluntarily delisting before and after the corona-virus pandemic and after the 2008 global financial crisis. The results show that after the corona-virus period, delisting appears to be more influenced by country-level variables and market conditions than by firm-level factors. While, after the corona-virus period, delisting was strongly explained by firm-level variables and macroeconomic conditions. And the period after the 2008 global financial crisis, delisting was mainly linked to firm-level variables and economic conditions.School of Business AdministrationDepartment of FinanceMaster of Science in Finance (MSF)Samet, Anis2026-06-29T06:28:07Z2026-06-29T06:28:07Z2026-05info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisapplication/pdf33.232-2026.06https://hdl.handle.net/11073/33560en_USMaster of Science in Finance (MSF)oai:repository.aus.edu:11073/335602026-06-30T05:19:08Z |
