description Knowledge management (KM) is a discipline that is increasingly gaining ground in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates as a whole. Even so, knowledge management has received the least amount of attention from researchers in the country, especially with regard to its contributions and role to project management. This dissertation sets out to: explore the impacts of successful knowledge management implementation; assess the influence of knowledge management systems in project management; determine the slow acceptance rate of knowledge management in the UAE particularly in multinational corporations; and assess potential barriers to KM implementation. The researcher used a case study methodology to obtain data on the abovementioned objectives from three organizations located in Abu Dhabi. Semi-structured interviews were conducted for 15 participants and documental reviews undertaken for purposes of triangulation in order to meet the objectives of the study. The results obtained from the interviews indicated that KM plays a significant role in ensuring the successful rates of projects completion and continuous improvement in project management systems. Trust and difficulty of sharing knowledge were identified as the two leading barriers to knowledge management.
