The predictive value of CTSI scoring system in non-operative management of patients with splenic blunt trauma: The experience of a level 1 trauma center by Ali Barah (14777533)

    Published 2023
“…The management options can be either operative or non-operative management (NOM) with either conservative management or splenic artery embolization. The implementation of CT in emergency departments allowed the use of CT imaging as a primary screening tool in early decision-making. …”

Operation optimization of propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant LNG Process: A novel integration of knowledge-based and constrained Bayesian optimization approaches by Roba Shady (22048043)

    Published 2024
“…In addition, the optimized SEC in this study is 14.5 % to 38.6 % lower than those reported in the literature. At large-scale LNG production (10,000 tons per day), the reduction in the SEC is translated into an 18 MW decrease in compression power, saving approximately 4.7 million $ per year for each C3MR train. …”

Isolation and study of Lipase activity of an olive oil degrading Thermoactionomyces SP. (c2002) by Al Khudary, Rami

    Published 2002
“…A ftlamentous, Gram-Positive, spore forming filamentous bacterium was isolated from soil (AI Koura - Lebanon) on rhodamine agar plates at 60°C. The isolate, HRK-l produced large quantities of an extra cellular thermostable lipase that degrades olive oil. …”

Effectiveness of Positron Emission Tomography for Predicting Chemotherapy Response in Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases by Glazer, Evan

    Published 2010
“…For example, a few years ago an extrahepatic metastasis effectively eliminated surgical resection, but a combination of chemotherapeutic options and surgical techniques has expanded the indications for resection and increased the population of patients who may benefit.1,2 Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has increased the resectability rate by 11% to 37%.1 Unfortunately, greater than 80% of patients undergoing hepatic resection will have recurrences, mostly within the first 2 years.2 Nonetheless, the only hope for cure is resection, and prior surgical dogma based on the number of lesions, size of the tumor-free resection margin, and presence of resectable extrahepatic disease must be questioned.3- 5 The current standard approach to surgical planning is contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for specific tumor characteristics or contraindications to CT.6 Several series showed that focal extrahepatic disease, an isolated pulmonary lesion, can be safely resected, with 5-year survival rates of 29% to 58%.7,8 In 1 series,7 17 of 30 patients required 3 or more resections. …”

Platelet Protein-Related Abnormalities in Response to Acute Hypoglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes by Abu Saleh Md Moin (6189512)

    Published 2021
“…In addition, the antithrombotic platelet-related proteins, plasmin (p<0.05) and heparin cofactor II (HCFII, p<0.05), were increased in T2D. Normalization of glucose in the T2D cohort had no effect on platelet protein levels. …”

Space size relative to prey width and total cover in an area both influence the habitat choices of freshwater angelfish Pterophyllum scalare in mesocosms by Bartholomew, Aaron

    Published 2012
“…Prey survivorship can vary with average space size/prey width (Sp/Py) and total cover within an area (Ct/At). Hypotheses predict that prey survivorship is maximized at intermediate Sp/Py values and that prey survivorship increases rapidly from zero to low cover but increases at a slower rate as cover increases further. …”

Performance Analysis of FSO Communications With Diversity Methods by Abou-Rjeily, Chadi

    Published 2016
“…The objective of the paper is to compare the different FSO diversity methods via an outage probability analysis over gamma-gamma turbulence channels in the case of independent fading among the different apertures of the communicating nodes. …”
