Predicting infarction growth rate II using ANFIS-based binary particle swarm optimization technique in ischemic stroke
Published 2023“…By analyzing the Pearson correlation coefficients and P-values, we selected clinically relevant features strongly correlated with the Infarction Growth Rate (IGR II), extracted after one CT scan. We compared our model's performance with conventional ANFIS and other machine learning techniques, including Support Vector Regressor (SVR), shallow Neural Networks, and Linear Regression. …”

Effectiveness of Positron Emission Tomography for Predicting Chemotherapy Response in Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases
Published 2010“…For example, a few years ago an extrahepatic metastasis effectively eliminated surgical resection, but a combination of chemotherapeutic options and surgical techniques has expanded the indications for resection and increased the population of patients who may benefit.1,2 Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has increased the resectability rate by 11% to 37%.1 Unfortunately, greater than 80% of patients undergoing hepatic resection will have recurrences, mostly within the first 2 years.2 Nonetheless, the only hope for cure is resection, and prior surgical dogma based on the number of lesions, size of the tumor-free resection margin, and presence of resectable extrahepatic disease must be questioned.3- 5 The current standard approach to surgical planning is contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for specific tumor characteristics or contraindications to CT.6 Several series showed that focal extrahepatic disease, an isolated pulmonary lesion, can be safely resected, with 5-year survival rates of 29% to 58%.7,8 In 1 series,7 17 of 30 patients required 3 or more resections. …”

Space size relative to prey width and total cover in an area both influence the habitat choices of freshwater angelfish Pterophyllum scalare in mesocosms
Published 2012“…Prey survivorship can vary with average space size/prey width (Sp/Py) and total cover within an area (Ct/At). Hypotheses predict that prey survivorship is maximized at intermediate Sp/Py values and that prey survivorship increases rapidly from zero to low cover but increases at a slower rate as cover increases further. …”

An Evaluation of Short-Term Effects of Different Soil Management Systems on Soil Physical, Structural and Hydraulic Properties and an Estimation and Optimization of Water Infiltrat...
Published 2022“…The organic matter content, the aggregate size distribution, the densities (in addition to porosities and residual moisture content), and the saturated hydraulic conductivities were measured in the laboratory using the loss on ignition, sieve analysis, coring, and constant head permeability methods, respectively while the pore structure was analyzed from CT-scan images of undisturbed samples. In both soils, tillage application decreased the densities, the aggregate mean weight diameter, the residual moisture content, and the fine pore volumes while increased the organic matter content, the porosity, the saturated hydraulic conductivity, and the amount of large pores of undisturbed soil. …”
