Nanoparticle enrichment mass-spectrometry proteomics identifies protein-altering variants for precise pQTL mapping
Published 2024“…</i>) where we quantify over 18,000 unique peptides from nearly 3000 proteins in more than 320 blood samples from a multi-ethnic cohort in a bottom-up, peptide-centric, mass spectrometry-based proteomics approach. We identify 184 protein-altering variants in 137 genes that are significantly associated with their corresponding variant peptides, confirming target specificity of co-associated affinity binders, identifying putatively causal cis-encoded proteins and providing experimental evidence for their presence in blood, including proteins that may be inaccessible to affinity-based proteomics.…”

Significance of Avicennia Marina in the Arabian Gulf Environment: A Review
Published 2025“…However, in the past two decades Gulf mangroves have been facing significant threats, including extensive coastal development, shoreline modification by establishing marinas and ports, and climate change-associated impacts such as sea-level rise and altered precipitation patterns, which pose significant risks to this fragile ecosystem. …”

A slow but steady nanoLuc: R162A mutation results in a decreased, but stable, nanoLuc activity
Published 2024“…However, questions related to its mechanism of interaction with the substrate, furimazine, as well as bioluminescence activity remain elusive. Here, we combined molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and mutational analysis to show that the R162A mutation results in a decreased but stable <u>bioluminescence </u>activity of NLuc in living cells and in vitro. …”

Notch Signaling Inhibition by LY411575 Attenuates Osteoblast Differentiation and Decreased Ectopic Bone Formation Capacity of Human Skeletal (Mesenchymal) Stem Cells
Published 2019“…Among the tested molecules, LY411575, a potent γ-secretase and Notch signaling inhibitor, exhibited significant inhibitory effects on osteoblastic differentiation of hBMSCs manifested by reduced ALP activity, mineralized matrix formation, and decreased osteoblast-specific gene expression as well as in vivo ectopic bone formation. …”

Performance evaluation of 3D-printed PLA composites doped with WE43 magnesium alloy for bone tissue engineering applications
Published 2025“…While a low Mg content (5 %) only slightly impacted the print quality and dimensions, higher Mg concentrations (10 % and 15 %) led to increased weight, rougher surfaces, dimensional shrinkage in height, and overall poorer formation quality. Adding WE43 alloy to PLA decreased the average pore sizes of the composites. …”

Kefir exhibits anti‑proliferative and pro‑apoptotic effects on colon adenocarcinoma cells with no significant effects on cell migration and invasion
Published 2014“…Our data suggest that kefir is able to inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis in HT‑29 and Caco‑2 CRC cells, yet it does not exhibit a significant effect on the motility and invasion of these cells in vitro.…”

Indomethacin as a Rescue Therapy for Patent Ductus Arteriosus in Extremely Premature Infants after Failed Ibuprofen Treatment
Published 2023“…While most PDAs close after one 3-day course of either medicine, a repeat course may be necessary before considering surgical ligation for those who remain with hsPDAs. In our practice, we administer one or two courses of ibuprofen followed by a single course of indomethacin if the PDA has not shown closure or decrease in size on the echocardiogram (echo) exam. …”

The Anti-Tumor Agent Sodium Selenate Decreases Methylated PP2A, Increases GSK3βY216 Phosphorylation, Including Tau Disease Epitopes and Reduces Neuronal Excitability in SHSY-5Y Neu...
Published 2019“…Somewhat surprisingly, the catalytically active form, methylated PP2A (mePP2A) was significantly decreased. In close correlation to these data, the phosphorylation state of two substrate proteins, sensitive to PP2A activity, GSK3β and Tau were found to be increased. …”

Application of surfactants in enhancing oil recovery from tight carbonates: Physicochemical properties and core flooding experiments
Published 2023“…It was shown that the presence of the surfactants and the increase in salinity both caused a significant reduction in the oil-water IFT. Additionally, all surfactant formulations altered the wettability of carbonate rock from intermediate-to water-wet conditions. …”

When Should a Brain MRI Be Performed in Children with New-Onset Seizures? Results of a Large Prospective Trial
Published 2021“…The presence of developmental delay and seizure type at presentation remained significant in a multivariate analysis. CONCLUSIONS: We documented a relatively high rate of epileptogenic lesions in children with new-onset seizures, with the presence of developmental delay and specific seizure types being associated with a higher likelihood of detecting an epileptogenic lesion on neuroimaging. …”
