The Impact of Sporting Events on Air Pollution: An Empirical Examination of National Football League Games
Published 2023“…From this, multiple regression analysis was utilized to estimate whether the number of fans was related to changes in air pollution. (3) Results: The regression models found that Ozone and Nitrogen Dioxide levels increased as more individuals attended NFL games. Additional robustness checks and falsification tests suggest that the average NFL event results in an approximately two-percent increase in Ozone levels. (4) Conclusions: The findings from this study contribute to the literature by providing evidence that highly attended sporting events increase pollution levels in the areas near stadiums. …”

Associating learning technology to sustain the environment through green mobile applications
Published 2019“…With “quality education” a major issue for the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, it is a must that we loop together the “quality education” with education per se. It is imperative that we engage the youth in attaining this objective, for it is not enough that we empower them with the tools, we must encourage them to look at the current issues outside the box, through a worldwide view, where the focus nowadays is on the environment, be it in reducing fuel usage, decreasing air and water pollution, and recycling, in brief, being environment friendly. …”

Reply to Comments by Kakkar and Dahiya
Published 2014“…TO THE EDITOR: Chahine, Karaoui, and Mansour1 reviewed the efficacy and safety of bedaquiline in the treatment of adults with pulmonary multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and generally agree with the comments made by Kakkar and Dahiya.2 Bedaquiline was approved by the Food and Drug Administration based largely on results from phase 2 studies using sputum conversion as a surrogate marker for efficacy rather than long-term mortality data.2 Bedaquiline was shown to be associated with an unfavorable side effect profile, including an unexplained increased risk of mortality, QT prolongation, and elevated liver function tests.2 However, it is important to acknowledge that bedaquiline is the first novel drug to be approved for the treatment of TB in more than 4 decades and the communities devastated by MDR-TB are in desperate need for more options to manage their patients. …”
