Palliative Tumor Control by Trabectedin in Pediatric Advanced Sarcoma
Published 2011“…We report the case of an eight year old boy with non metastatic alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of the right forearm (Group 3, Stage III). After treatment failure of several chemotherapeutic regimens and progression of his disease, Trabectedin was administered at 1.3 mg/m2/dose intravenously over 24 hours for two cycles. …”

Formation of Trihalomethanes during Seawater Chlorination
Published 2010“…Chlorination of seawater has shown significant increase in total THMs (TTHMs) and in bromoform concentrations. Rapid decrease of UV absorbance at 254 nm was also observed during seawater chlorination which is indicative of natural organic matter degradation into small organic molecules including THMs and other by-products. …”

Mixed siliciclastic-carbonate-evaporite sedimentation in an arid eolian landscape: The Khor Al Adaid tide-dominated coastal embayment, Qatar
Published 2020“…These offshore-migrating eolian-derived sediments are being redistributed by tidal currents in an otherwise low-energy coastal zone, where in situ formation of carbonate mud and a low-diversity skeletal assemblage is ongoing within salinity-restricted environments. Three depositional sectors are delineated: 1) an energetic, linear, fault-controlled Entrance Channel into which the eolian dunes spill directly; 2) a relatively deep (up to 20 m) Outer Lagoon, interpreted to represent a flooded karst-collapse structure; and 3) a sprawling, low-energy, shallow (<2 m) Inner Lagoon occupying low-lying areas between deflated eolian dunes.Physical oceanographic modeling, integrating multi-seasonal current meter and tidal gage measurements, demonstrates tidal current flow velocities are relatively high in both the Entrance Channel and at the constricted entrance to the Inner Lagoon. …”

Modulation of SLFN11 induces changes in DNA Damage response in breast cancer
Published 2023“…Finally, as a definitive and specific way to modulate SLFN11 expression we implemented SLFN11 dCas9 (dead CRISPR associated protein 9) systems to specifically increase or decrease SLFN11 expression.

Results

After confirming the previously reported correlation between methylation of SLFN11 promoter and its expression across multiple cell lines, we showed in-vitro that decitabine and IFN-γ could increase moderately the expression of SLFN11 in both BT-549 and T47D cell lines. …”

Surgical Strategies for Synchronous Colorectal Liver Metastases in 156 Consecutive Patients
Published 2015“…Surgical resection of all tumor sites is the only treatment that enables prolonged survival, but the synchronous presentation of CLM has been associated with poor outcomes.1 Preoperative chemotherapy is widely used in these patients to provide early treatment of metastatic disease, to improve patient selection for surgical resection,2 and 3 and to decrease the recurrence rate after surgery.4 The traditional surgical strategy for patients with resectable synchronous CLM includes resection of the primary tumor followed by chemotherapy and then liver resection. …”
