Hepatitis serology predicts tumor and liver-disease characteristics but not prognosis after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma
Published 2004“…The presence of hepatitis did not significantly affect the survival rate, but hepatic fibrosis and vascular invasion predicted a decreased survival rate. The prognosis after resection of HCC is influenced by tumor factors and liver disease, but not by HBV or HCV infection. …”

Impaired Liver Size and Compromised Neurobehavioral Activity are Elicited by Chitosan Nanoparticles in the Zebrafish Embryo Model
Published 2019“…Although no single sign of cardiotoxicity was observed upon exposure to 200 mg/L of ChNPs, as judged by heartbeat rate, the corrected QT interval (QTc, which measures the time between the start of the Q wave and the end of the T wave in the heart's electrical cycle), maximum cardiac arrest, and ejection fraction assays, the same dosage elicited the impairment of both liver size (decreased liver size, but without steatosis and lipid yolk retention) and neurobehavioral activity (increased movement under different light conditions). …”

Chitosan/Lignosulfonate Nanospheres as “Green” Biocide for Controlling the Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion of Carbon Steel
Published 2020“…
In this work, uniform cross-linked chitosan/lignosulfonate (CS/LS) nanospheres with an average diameter of 150–200 nm have been successfully used as a novel, environmentally friendly biocide for the inhibition of mixed sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) culture, thereby controlling microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) on carbon steel. It was found that 500 µg·mL−1 of the CS/LS nanospheres can be used efficiently for the inhibition of SRB-induced corrosion up to a maximum of 85% indicated by a two fold increase of charge transfer resistance (Rct) on the carbon steel coupons. …”

Novel proteins implicated in lipid metabolism disorders
Published 2016“…

Familial combined hypolipidaemia is a recently discovered autosomal recessive disorder attributed to mutations in the ANGPLT3 gene, leading to very low serum levels of triglycerides and low- and high-density lipoproteins, but does not seem to be associated with liver abnormalities.

ANGPTL4 is a protein that is activated during fasting, decreasing the release of free fatty acids from circulating triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. …”
