OMT was found to significantly increase the apoptosis rate of endothelial cells (ECs) treated with oxidised low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), as measured by caspase-3 activity assay and flow cytometry. qRT-PCR results showed that OMT treatment decreased the expression of miR-199a-5p in ECs.Transfection of miR-199a-5p mimics enhanced the apoptotic effect, whereas miR-199a-5p inhibitors attenuated apoptosis, suggesting that miR-199a-5p has a key regulatory role in EC apoptosis. …”
