Sammanfattning:<p>This is a 3D model of Mosque 1 at Kua, Pwani, Tanzania. A 3D model is a digital representation of a structure or space that captures its shape in three dimensions. These files can be viewed in the open source software, Meshlab.</p><p><small><i>The information in this site description is provided for contextual purposes only and should not be regarded as a primary source.</i></small><br>Kua are the remains of a Swahili settlement featuring coral stone architecture, including mosques, tombs, and domestic structures. The site reflects Islamic influence in building techniques and urban planning, with evidence of trade connections across the Indian Ocean. Artifacts such as ceramics and glassware indicate commercial activity and cultural exchange. Kua contributes to understanding Swahili coastal society, religious practices, and maritime networks.</p><br><p>The Zamani Project seeks to increase awareness and knowledge of tangible cultural heritage in Africa and internationally by creating metrically accurate digital representations of historical sites. Digital spatial data of cultural heritage sites can be used for research and education, for restoration and conservation, and as a record for future generations.
